AAGB.net

AAGB.net is the website of the Alevi Youth in Germany Federation. The site, which targets Alevi youth across the country, was created in 1993 and is based in Cologne.

Some sections present the activities, news, and leadership of the local Alevi Culture Centres in the other German Länder: North Rhine-Westphalia, Baden-Württemberg, Hesse, Bavaria, and in the North.

AAGB.net also publishes generalist articles about issues concerning the Alevi youth in Germany: integration policy, immigration, professional prospects, xenophobia, human rights, religion in school, environmental conservation, and information about drugs and sexuality.

Other sections focus on Alevism in general. Topics include Alevi history, the Alevi situation in Germany, Alevi figures, and more. One can also find information about the AAGB (Alevi Youth in Germany Federation). Finally, AAGB.net offers a review of papers about Alevi in Germany.

Afkar Inquiry Magazine

Afkar Inquiry is a magazine of events and ideas with an Islamic perspective. The magazine includes essays on Koranic epistemology, as well as pieces about Islam and Muslims in the world. It is printed in colour and sells for £1.50.

The writing team of Afkar Inquiry is made up of intellectuals, journalists, teachers, and others. Until the end of the 1980s, Ziauddin Sardar, currently contributor to the Guardian and book pages of the Independent, and Ahmed Versi, who is the publisher and editor of The Muslim News, were members of the Afkar Inquiry writing team. Ebrahim Moosa, who is Associate Professor of Islamic Studies at Duke University, collaborated too.

Aglasazim Infos was a Turkish website that disappeared in 2007. It had been created by HaSaNali.

This website focused on Alevism, Elbistan (a large district in Kahramanmara Province in southern Turkey), and the 1968 action.

Ahmadiyya TV

Ahmadiyya TV was created in 1994 by Hadhrat Mirza Tahir Ahmad and Khalifat-ul-Masih IV ra. It broadcasts 24 hours a day, and targets a multicultural audience through the use of various languages and local studios in several countries.

The station features programs focusing on the different cultures of the world and the environments in which they exist. It also broadcasts more traditional programmes like Friday Sermon (Urdu) and Question and Answer Session (English).

Ahmadiyya TV aims to provide a positive alternative in the broadcasting world. It is not dependent upon commercial sponsorship or license fees, and thus considers itself to be maintaining its freedom of expression.

It seeks innovative approaches to broadcasting, using digital technology and state of the art equipment. With an eye toward educating its global audience, the station offers programming on health, science and technology.

Al Mustakillah Television is a television channel created in 1998. A website relays the same information, largely concerning news and current affairs. Many programmes are broadcast live.

Al-Asr Radio

Al Asr Radio was created in 2007 with the goal of introducing a programme with ideas and content that would suit an Arabic perspective. The programming specialises in cultural and historical topics, presented in a comprehensive  style. It is a non-stop radio station which targets Muslim-British audiences, by broadcasting both in Arabic and English.

According to its editorial team, Al Asr Radio is an independent news and cultural source. It broadcasts political and economic news, commentaries, talk shows, political analysis, and more.  It also offers a recitation of Al Asr Sura and debates between scientists.

This radio station particularly aims to promote culture in Arabic and Muslim communities, engage different points of view, and analyse current issues and obstacles of relevance in Muslim communities.

Al-Balagh

Al-Balagh is a television channel that first aired on September 1st 2002. Based in London, it targets a Muslim-British audience, and broadcasts in Arabic throughout the day.

The station aims to portray what Arab immigrants have gained in cultural knowledge and transmit it to the Arab world. It broadcasts analytical programmes, seminars, translation, literature, Arabic music, statistical studies and news.

The Al-Balagh's leadership team is made up of Dr Bashir Zain El-Abdain, Mr Ali Mansouri, and Dr Mahmood Al-Husari.

Al-Jumuah Magazine

Al-Jumuah Magazine was created in 2006 with the ambition of being a 'guide to an Islamic life'. It is printed in colour, and is sold for £5.18.

The magazine targets Muslims in the West, and seeks to impart Islamic knowledge, linking Islamic practices to genuine scholarship in a way that is relevant and compatible with contemporary living. It informs English-speaking Muslims about moral upbringing (tarbiyyah), creed (aqeedah) and jurisprudence (fiqh), along with a host of articles dedicated to the daily issues every Muslim encounters during his or her life in the West. For example, one section focuses on 'Paths to Paradise'. The magazine's ambition is to teach rather than preach.

According to the website of the Al-Muntada Al-Islami Trust (www.almuntadatrust.org), Al-Jumuah is the market leader in Islamic knowledge based publications in the western world, and boasts a global readership of 100,000.

Alevi Akademisi

Alevi Akademisi is a website created by the Alevi Academy. It is the German version of the European Alevi Academy's website (www.aleviakademisi.org/), and targets Alevi readers across Western Europe, Turkey, and the Balkans.

The site draws its resources from the Platform for the Development of the Democratic Alevi Movement in Europe (Avrupa Demokratik Alevi Hareketini Gelistirme Platformu).

Its sections focus essentially on Alevism. It contains, like the European version, a manifesto designed for Democrats and Alawi intellectuals.

Alevi Akademisi's audience is estimated at more than forty visits per month.

Alevi Konseyi

Alevi Konseyi is a website created by the Alevi Council. It is one of numerous media activities by this organisation: www.alevitentum.de, www.turnakitap.com, www.pirtv.com and www.turnadergisi.de. Specifically, Alevi Konseyi is the Turkish-language version of www.alevitentum.de.

Alevi Konseyi contains numerous sections, essentially focused on Alevi religion. They are devoted to the presentation of the great Alevi figures and to Alevi history. One can also find information about Alevi rights, Alevi music, the activities of the association and matters concerning women and youth. It is therefore an instrument of knowledge and information about Alevism.

This website is financially backed by the Alevi Council. It is also supported by Mr. Remzi Kaptan and voluntary workers. Alevi Konseyi counts more than 112,000 visits since September 2008.
